EDUCATE, ADVOCATE, & ACCELERATE
economic parity in underserved-underutilized communities.

 

The Vision - The San Diego Urban Economic Corporation is committed to be a leading advocate for the economic empowerment, advancement, and education of African American communities in the San Diego region by implementing and maintaining programs and services that promote youth entrepreneurship, training, and business to business development, and affordable housing with a major focus on the use of technology. The San Diego Urban Economic Corporation is also committed to building coalitions and collaborations with other organizations committed to enhancing the quality of life in the San Diego region.

 

Mission Statement  - The San Diego Urban Economic Corporation is a  nonprofit corporation formed to  educate, advocate, and accelerate economic parity for African American Businesses and Communities in, and around, San Diego County.  

 

Goals – To provide African American   individuals, businesses, and communities with relevant  and pertinent economic information and Opportunities by means of networking events, online informational periodicals, and to stay abreast of economic indicators relevant to African Americans.

 

  • The History - Founded Annual San Diego Black Business Weekend and Community Economic Fair, a three-day event dedicated to Black Owned businesses.
  • Founded VirtuallyBlack.com a community based Afrocentric web portal for California.
  • On- going collaborations with other community based organizations (California Black Chamber of Commerce, California Black Lawyers Association, Earl B Gilliam bar Association, San Diego Black Political Action Association, NAACP, Urban League, San Diego Regional Chamber of Commerce, Hispanic Chamber of Commerce, Asian Business Association, Black Contractors Association, Multicultural Contractors Association and First Friday’s of San Diego, Diamond BID, Coalition of Neighborhood Councils, and Encanto Real Estate Professionals.
  • Have received numerous accommodations and proclamations from political officials including local mayors, city councilpersons, senators, and congressmen for advancing economic issues for African Americans and small business owners.
  • Has been an advocate for small business and African American economic issues concerning the San Diego region since 1996.
